The Buick’s smaller engine shines in the fuel economy department with the highest figures in the city but on the highway, the figures are behind the other rivals by quite a lot. Although the drop is quite a lot, the performance gain is respectable. The smaller engine does a pretty good job of returning the most miles per gallon, while the bigger engine drops the figures to 26 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway for a combined 27 MPG. The 2022 Buick Encore GX’s fuel economy figures stand at 29 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway for a combined 30 MPG from its 13.2-gallon fuel tank.

As for the rivals, the Honda CR-V’s turbocharged mill is the quickest one taking 7.6 seconds to the 60 mph mark, despite the Toyota RAV4 being the most powerful of the bunch and producing 203 hp and 184 lb.-ft of torque. The bigger engine does get better times (8.8 seconds for the 0-60 MPH run and 16.7 seconds for the quarter-mile) but still remains slower than the others. The Buick Encore gets the smallest engine of all and hence, the times are very slow as well when compared to the rivals’ powertrains. The turbocharged engine has decent acceleration with a top whack of nearly 118 MPH. The result? The 60 MPH comes up in 9.4 seconds while the quarter-mile run takes a rather leisurely 17.2 seconds. The 1.2L 3-cylinder mill is rather underpowered for the Encore GX’s size and given the FWD nature, there isn’t enough traction off the line. On the highways, the smaller engine takes a toll while the bigger one is rougher due to the lack of one cylinder inside. The bigger engine bumps up the performance and the 9-speed auto shifts flawlessly, while also providing ample torque on tap. The engine is not stressed in the city and does the daily errands very well along with the CVT that takes care of the shifts. The FWD variants come with a CVT, while the AWD variants come paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission.Īs for the driving quality, the suspension setup is rather good and takes care of most of the potholes and undulations on the road. The AWD variants and the Essence trim get the more powerful turbocharged 1.3L Inline-3 which bumps up the power to 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. The 2022 Buick Encore GX is powered by a turbocharged 1.2L Inline-3 as standard which churns out 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque and is available in the FWD variants of the Select and Essence only. By adding the Cold Weather Comfort Package to the list as well as opening the doors to the Advanced Technology package, you can add a bevy of assistance features on top.

The Buick Encore GX has a very impressive features list from the base trim itself, but the Select trim does the most justice to the price. The trims can also be paired with various optional packages as well to enhance the value but drive the MSRP further.Ĭloth/imitation leather combination upholstery
